Who WYC Serves
|
Whiteaker Youth Center (WYC) is a part
of Central Plains Center. WYC
is offering many different services to children and adolescents from 3 to 18,
with severe emotional and behavioral problems.
|
WYC covers a nine county area which
includes: Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Floyd, Hale, Lamb, Parmer, Motley and
Swisher.
FEES
Fees for all services are based
according to the income of the family in which, a sliding scale is used.
WYC accepts Private Insurance, Chip and
Medicaid. No one will be turned
down for services due to lack of ability to pay.
MISSION
Our Mission is to improve the quality of
lives and help children grow to be happy, productive members of society.
What
We Can Offer
WYC offers case management in order to
facilitate child/families access to community resources and continuity of care
between services.
WYC offers Skills Training and
Development to the child/adolescent and family; a structured intervention to
provide and improve skills needed for the child to function appropriately in the
home, school and community, and to enhance child behavior management and other
parenting skills for the caregiver.
WYC offers Medication Training and
Support Services; information provided to the child and family on the mental
health disorder, medications, monitoring of symptoms and side effects.
WYC offers Family Support
Groups;
support and informational meetings for parents of children receiving services
that are facilitated and routinely scheduled.
WYC offers counseling; provided in order
to resolve a concrete problem in daily functioning (problem-focused,
solution-oriented) or symptoms resulting from maladaptive thoughts, feelings,
interpersonal disturbances, and/or experiences consistent with DSM-IV Diagnoses.
Counseling is intended to be brief, time limited and focused.

If a child’s needs are more intense,
WYC offers Psychiatric Evaluation, a clinical diagnostic interview by a MD Child
Psychiatrist.

Medication Management: a service
provided by a licensed medical professional to a child or family to determine
symptom remission and the medication regime needed to initiate and/or maintain
the child’s plan of care.

How to Access Services
In order for a family to take advantage
of the services offered, a screening and intake process is necessary.
A parent or guardian may
call our office at (806) 291-4470,
Monday through Friday
from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
