The services included at Central Plains MHMR are:

Adult Mental Health

Adults, 18 years or older, who are having problems and are interested in receiving a screening for mental illness can call our admissions office.  Individuals will be screened by qualified staff and will receive an assessment by a licensed professional.  As a center, we are limited in the population we can serve and the licensed staff will provide an evaluation to determine eligibility for our services.  After qualifying for our services, individuals will receive referrals to other services available in our center and the community as necessary.

Mental Retardation

Individuals and families who are in need of mental retardation services can call our admissions office.  Persons requesting services will be tested by qualified staff to determine if mental retardation is present.  Testing is completed by a Licensed Associate Psychologist certified by the Texas Department of MHMR to conduct testing.  Once testing is completed , individuals will receive referrals for other center and community services as indicated by testing.  Not all individuals who are tested meet criteria for Mental Retardation services.

Hospital/State School Liaison

Liaison services are for individuals who are hospitalized or placed in a state school.  The liaison will coordinate center services while a person is hospitalized as well as provide discharge planning to ensure continuity of treatment upon discharge.

Crisis Intervention Services

The Crisis Line is a service that is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Crisis services include crisis resolution, crisis intervention, assessment and authorization of inpatient psychiatric treatment when necessary.  The Crisis Line also provides referrals and information for substance abuse treatment.
