Our baby featured in the United Way video: Baby B was born at 24 weeks weighing 1 lb., 8 oz and was 11.5 inches long. She was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 3 months before being discharged to her home in Plainview. When she left the hospital, she weighed 5 lbs. and was on oxygen an apnea monitor, and a heart monitor. She had already had surgery on both eyes due to her prematurely and will continue to be followed by a pediatric ophthalmologist. She also sees a team of specialists in Lubbock that continue to monitor her health and developmental skills. She is enrolled in ECI services and received visits from an Early Intervention Specialist, Occupational Therapist and a Registered Dietitian. For her to be born so early, she is doing very well, surrounded by family that loves her dearly! |
